Five sugared almonds for our friends to eat,
As a reminder that life is both bitter and sweet.
Five wishes from the guests to the new bride and groom,
Health, wealth, happiness, children and long life.
Celebrate with a Favour! The giving of Bonbonieres (also spelt Bombonieres, Bonbonnieres or Boubounieres) or Favours, as they are more commonly known, has for a long time been an Italian and Greek tradition.
The Favour is a beautiful gift given to your guests as a memento of your special occasion. Favours are normally given at events such as Christenings, Holy Communion, Anniversaries, Engagements, Birthdays, Ladies' Nights, Bar Mitzvahs, Corporate Functions, Dinner Parties, Civil Partnership ceremonies, and, most commonly of all, on the occasion of Weddings.
Each Favour traditionally holds five sugared almonds or chocolate dragees which represent Health, Wealth, Happiness, Long Life and Fertility.
Favours can be co-ordinated to match the theme of an event, the flowers, and so on.
Favours make wonderful table decorations, and are a beautiful way of thanking your friends and family for joining you, and giving them something that will remind them of your special occasion.
